Employment Type: Full time, Service-term Contract
Duty Station: Luuq, Jubaland, Gedo, Somalia,
Employment start date: 1st June 2023
Contract Length: 7 months contract with the possibility of extension subject to Mutual agreement and availability of funds

Introduction

Centre for Research and Integrated Development (https://www.cerid.so) is a non-governmental, nonprofit organization founded and became operational in 2005. One of the CeRID’s institutional focus Priority Goals is contributing to the effort to alleviate immediate human suffering and strengthen the resilience and self-recovery capacity of drought and conflict-affected communities, including IDPs and host communities. As part of this priority goals, CeRID implementing a project- GBV Response to the crises in Somalia which is a project funded by NCA and implemented by CeRID. The Overall Goal of the Project is to save lives, alleviate suffering and protect human dignity by empowering women and girls to use their VOICES and access the SERVICES and information they require to live safe and DIGNIFIED lives and be SAFE from harm. Especially the project aims that SGBV Survivors access life-saving, specialized SGBV services appropriate and relevant to their immediate needs. The project mainly focuses on Adolescent Girls of two schools (Sinai Primary and Luuq Secondary Schools) in the Luuq district Supported by NCA education program. Girls are most at risk of experiencing GBV compared to men/boys in their schools and hence need to be empowered to protect themselves. The project encourages adolescent girls and women to make use of the safe spaces where they can meet for discussion, and support assistance including psychological support and case management for survivors of GBV. It also Provides an entry point to strengthen girls’ retention in Schools.

Job Summary:

CeRID is seeking for a skilled and compassionate GBV case worker to join the team. As a GBV case worker, you will provide direct support to survivors of gender-based violence (GBV), including crisis intervention, emotional support, safety planning, and referrals to community resources. You will work closely with other members of the team to provide coordinated and comprehensive care to survivors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct support to survivors of GBV, including crisis intervention, emotional support, safety planning, and referrals to community resources
  • Conduct initial assessments of survivors’ needs and develop individualized service plans
  • Provide ongoing case management and support to survivors, including follow-up and advocacy on their behalf
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of all client interactions and services provided
  • Collaborate with other members of the team, including Project officer, other caseworkers workers, facilitators, and legal advocates, to provide coordinated and comprehensive care to survivors
  • Participate in regular team meetings and case consultations to ensure high-quality service delivery
  • Stay up-to-date on best practices and emerging trends in the field of GBV and related field
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in social work, psychology, or a related field
  • Minimum of two years of experience working with survivors of GBV or in a related field
  •  Strong understanding of the dynamics of GBV and the impact it has on survivors
  •  Ability to provide empathetic, non-judgmental, and culturally responsive support to clients from diverse backgrounds
  •  Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  •  Strong organizational and time management skills
  •  Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  •  Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards
  •  Proficiency in Microsoft Office and client management databases
