Humanitarian Support

CeRID responds to humanitarian crises in districts in Somalia affected by natural disasters, pandemics and conflict.

Armed conflicts and natural disasters deprive people of food, clean water, education, health services, sanitation and protection. Devastating natural disasters like droughts and cyclones are increasing due to climate change. Armed conflict has forced millions to flee their homes worldwide.

In 2023 alone, CeRID provided cash assistance to 7,000 households affected by droughts and flooding in Luuq and Qansahdhere districts. Additionally, CeRID supported 900 women and girls with protection services, including emergency cash relief for survivors. CeRID also provided water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services, including emergency water trucking, to more than 10,000 people in Qansahdhere and Luuq districts.

Thanks to the support of our donor, CeRID provides this rapid assistance where most needed. This support saves lives.

The key humanitarian principles at the core of CeRID's work are:

  • Humanity
  • Impartiality
  • Neutrality
  • Independence
